Islamic Art Museum is the work of American Chinese origin I.M. Pei, who was responsible for the famous Pyramide du Louvre in Paris; as home to the world-class Qatar National Collection of Islamic Art, the museum showcases ceramics, metalwork, jewellery, woodwork and glass made in countries throughout the Islamic world, from medieval Spain to India and Central Asia;
Qatar Oriental Museum – this museum showcases a rare collection of paintings dating back more than 200 years and depicting life in Egypt Morocco and Syria. They were painted by some oriental painters who lived in the Orient;
The Qatar Photography Museum is the creation of the famous Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, houses photo and camera galleries, as well as galleries for temporary exhibition, workshops, a library, the headquarter of Qatar Photographic Society, a shop, a cafeteria and a restaurant;
The Zoo – lies 20 km from Doha on Salwa Road. It has a varied collection of animals, reptiles and birds as well as a mini amusement park for children. The zoo opens daily from 3 to 7 p.m. and closes on Saturdays;
The Entertainment City (the Kingdom of Aladdin) which lies in the West Bay has a rest house, an artificial lagoon, a theatre and a cafeteria;
The City Center Doha – one of Qatar’s most fashionable malls which has international brand-name stores, a large Starbucks and one of the few ice rinks in the Middle East;
Sealine Beach Resort – situated 55 km from the capital, the resort offers a wide variety of rooms, villas and chalets – each with a sea view. It also has many sports & recreational facilities as well as a number of restaurants.
The Souq Waqif – this market lies in the city center and it is now considered one of the most favored tourist attractions in Qatar by virtue of its many fine restaurant and cafes that suit all taste. The Market displays souvenirs, incense, perfumes and spices; tailoring, embroidery and jewellery shops and the most of traditional craft shops and objects;
The Diplomatic Club is a prestigious club located in the West Bay area. It offers its members and guests luxurious facilities including a gymnasium for various sports activities, businessperson meeting hall, a multipurpose hall that accommodate up to 400 people, tennis and squash courts, a library, a beauty center and restaurants;
Al Dana Club is situated inside Khalifa Complex for Tennis and Squash. It offers its members and guests many sports and recreational facilities such as outdoor and indoor tennis grounds, swimming pools and leisure services
The Cultural Village in Qatar (Katara), located in the West Bay area of Doha, covers a total of 1000000 sq m. It reflects the heritage of Qatar through traditional architecture that accommodates a large number of activities arranged in such a way as to reflect a historical and cultural theme throughout. Besides theatres, libraries, art galleries and museums the Cultural Village includes an amphitheatre, heritage centres and other academic facilities, along with retail outlets, coffee shops and market areas.

THE DRIVING LICENCE
To obtain a temporary Qatari driving license one must personally apply to the Driving License Section at Madinat Khalifa Traffic Department within seven days since the arrival in Qatar. You will need photocopies of your valid national driver’s license and your passport, together with the originals, three (3) passport-sized photographs and QR150 / 45$. The relevant application form must be signed and stamped by your sponsor in sign of confirmation that he will allow you to drive. Temporary Qatar driving licenses are valid for three (3) months, but can be extended by request.
